2020: My Year in Books

2020: My Year in Books

Hello, fellow book lover.

How could one year alternately feel like the longest and shortest in history?

For all the ups and downs that 2020 gave the world, one thing I’m happy about is that, free from many of my usual commitments, I was able to dedicate more time to reading and writing book reviews.

Without social distancing, this website and my #Bookstagram account likely wouldn’t exist, and both have been a good escape and creative outlet.

While we don’t know what 2021 will hold, I hope that by summer we’re back to some semblance of pre-March 2020 normalcy and that I’ll continue to dedicate the energy to putting these thoughts into the universe.

To those of you that have stumbled upon this website — likely from my “Leave the World Behind” post — thank you! I hope you enjoyed reading my random thoughts as much as I enjoyed creating them.

This is just a hobby, but it’s brought me a lot of joy. We don’t know where life will take us, but I’m happy to have this small space on the world wide web, and I appreciate you coming along for the ride.

Thanks for stopping by,

Andy, The Avid Listener

My Year in Books

I didn’t start this website until the end of May, which meant I was close to halfway through my reading for the year. Most of the books noted below have reviews — either long or short — on this site, but for those that don’t, you can find them on my Goodreads profile, from which this visual was taken (thanks, Goodreads!)

This week I’ll be posting additional insights, including my favorite and least favorite reads from 2020 as well as a breakdown of my reading habits by genre and author.
